6 years of continuous use

Spare parts made replacement unnecessary

M/S New Viking operates as a fishing vessel in purse seine fishing, where work gloves are used daily in tough and humid conditions. Drying equipment on board is exposed to salt, moisture, and continuous use, and operational reliability is crucial for the work equipment to always be ready for use between hauls and handling.

The challenge

In 2019, a Gladek Technik glove dryer was installed on board. After six years of continuous use, certain wear parts began to approach the end of their service life. The firm needed to ensure continued operation without having to invest in an entirely new system.
  • Wear and tear on the fan and ozone bulb after many years of daily use
  • Need to avoid downtime in the drying solution on board
  • Desire to extend the lifespan of existing equipment rather than replacing everything
  • Requirements for stable and reliable glove drying in a demanding maritime environment

The solution

Instead of replacing the entire glove dryer, we supplied original spare parts from stock – including a new Fan Andozone bulb. This allowed the existing system to be upgraded and its lifespan extended with minimal downtime and without major investment.
  • Delivery of fan and ozone bulb as replacement for wear parts
  • Spare parts in stock ensured rapid dispatch and short downtime
  • Continued use of the same glove dryer as installed in 2019
  • Cost-effective and sustainable solution instead of new installation

The result

After replacing the wear parts, the M/S New Viking was able to continue using the glove dryer as before. The solution still functions stably on board, and the crew has dry and hygienic gloves available without interruption to operations.

  • The glove dryer is still in operation after more than 6 years.
  • Reduced costs compared to acquiring new equipment
  • Extended lifespan of existing solution
  • Safe and stable glove drying for the crew

Conclusion

The case of the M/S New Viking shows how robust glove dryers can have a significantly longer lifespan through easy access to spare parts. By replacing wear parts such as the fan and ozone bulb, the vessel could retain a well-functioning solution and avoid unnecessary new investment – a practical, economical, and sustainable way to ensure continued operation.
